Quest - Hanging Gardens

1.Huh?

Huh? Huh? A real human? Are you a real human? Oh my, it has been a long time since I saw a human. Ha-ha. Now that I look at you carefully, you look like one heck of a strong person! You came right in time. Can you do me a favor, human? ~ Ah yes, well. Not that long ago, a vicious fox attacked me, and I threw my cane at it! Shoo! Shoo! Now my cane is gone... danged foxes.  I'm sorry, but can you get me 150 Thick Tree Branches?

Mission: Thick Tree Branch x150

~

Ha-ha. Oh, kind, kind. Such a kind human.  It's been a really long time since I've seen somebody like you!  People are as unkind as animals these days... like those danged foxes. The eagles, too, are causing so many troubles nowadays. Danged eagles. Just recently a huge fox came down here. That's the same day I lost my cane. Oh, my back! I need that cane... I'm a little busy making canes right now so if you have some business with me, come back later.

Reward:

  • Experience: 83,600
  • Gold: 70,000
  • Item: Giant Crystal x20

2.Old Story 1

Hey young fellow, you're back! I am so grateful. You shooed all those eagles away, right? What? It wasn't you? Then who did it? It wasn't me, was it? Anyway, it's so kind of you to care about me. In return, I will tell you a story about the garden. Do you want to hear it? Yes? No? Well, I don't care. I'm going to tell it anyway. I used to be a gardener and superintendent in the [Hanging Gardens]. The garden wasn't that tall and splendid like today. The garden, which Nebuchadnezzar II built for his beloved queen a very long time ago, was a testament of his unending love to her. After many years have passed, that overbearing royal priestess Tiamat started managing the garden, and began to use it for a different purpose! ~ Oh! The poor garden... Whenever I talk about the old times, it makes me worry about the condition it is in now. The Stone Warriors in the [Great Plaza] used to trample the flower beds. Oh dear. Should they be defeated? Why, yes, they should, shouldn't they? Can you go defeat the Stone Swordsmen?

Mission: Kill Stone Swordsman x20

~

Huh? Where have you been? You just disappeared! I didn't know you were so rude. I was right in the middle of a sentence, you know. Did nature call? Are you in that much of a hurry? What? I asked you to go? Not nature?

Reward:

  • Experience: 105,600
  • Gold: 80,000
  • Item: Ambrosia x10

3.Can't Remember Well...

Why didn't you say so in the first place! Where did I stop last time? Ah, yes! Tiamat. Well, even today, I think about the priestess. She was such a sight to behold. As Tiamat expanded her sphere of influence with her powerful magic and charismatic nature, her ideals became twisted and she began to think of herself as a god! She only cared about getting closer to the celestial world. As a result, she ordered the reconstruction of the Hanging Gardens. After many sacrifices were made, the Garden finally took the shape of what you see before you today. ~ By the way, what did I just ask you to defeat? Forgive me, young one. My memory is as hazy as ever. Tell me slowly, letter by letter. (Answer is in plural form.)

Mission: Answer Can't Remember Well... question > Stone Swordsmen

~

I did? I really told you to do that? I'm very forgetful so I have to be on guard when I talk to youngsters like you.

Reward:

  • Experience: 88,000
  • Gold: 50,000
  • Item: Silver Arrow x30

4.Old Story 2

Be that as it may, it's my choice whether to believe you or not. Now, I will tell you more about that arrogant Tiamat. Tiamat sometimes invited members of the nobility to the rooftop of the Hanging Gardens and preached her shameless dogma to them. She guided them to a spot where they could see all four corners of the world, and openly exclaimed that she would conquer the entire world one day. That's the main reason why she is not well-liked by many. I didn't like her much myself, though I thought she was pretty. Ha-ha, ha-ha. ~ I was getting a headache trimming the Gardens for the nobles. On top of that, those Stone Warriors always created a mess of the Gardens. Before I forget, which I probably will, please go defeat those Stone Spearmen for me.

Mission: Kill Stone Spearman x20

~

Hey, you! Yeah, you, young fellow! Even if you have urgent business to take care of, don't disappear on me like that without saying a word! Why do you keep disappearing on me? What? I asked you to do something for me again? Ha-ha, really? Well, my memory's as hazy as ever you know. Oh, I said that already? Hmm...

Reward:

  • Experience: 105,600
  • Gold: 80,000
  • Item: Enchant Stone [III] x5

5.Hidden Story 1

The stories I am going to tell you now are unknown to the rest of the world.  Since you're taking the time to listen to a senile old fool like me, I am more than happy to tell you this story. Listen closely once more. As I said before, Tiamat's spirit was as fiery as ever. Eventually, she drifted away from her powerful supporters in the nobility, but she didn't care too much about it. She kept training herself to get closer to becoming a god. She used to kidnap people to make them her slaves, you know. Now don't walk off yet. Hold on. ~ It was terrible!! She could've just used them as workers. If that was the case, I wouldn't have such a problem with it. However, with her powers, she turned all of them into strange warriors that follow her every bidding. There's nothing we can do for them now, but we can help release their pitiful souls from their enslaved body. It's a bitter mission that you must undertake, but I need you to eliminate those Slave Swordsmen.  Now I'm done. Now you can go. Always wait for me to say that. (You can find the Slave Swordsmen in the Eastern Region.)

Mission: Kill Slave Swordsman x20

~

Well done. Is something wrong? Why're you so surprised? Oh. Haha! My memory isn't that bad, my young friend.

Reward:

  • Experience: 105,600
  • Gold: 80,000
  • Item: Babylon's Battle Box x5

6.One who disturbs the Gardens

Anyway, in order to defeat the almighty Tiamat, Imperator Marduk, a royal family member, fought her alone, face to face. Marduk emerged victorious in the legendary battle and arrested Tiamat. In her trial, she was sentenced to execution by beheading... or so they say... ~ The story I just told you is far from the truth. Well, I wonder how things would have turned out if the Slave Warriors had played a part in the fight. Today, they are just a bunch of idiots making a mess of the Gardens. Hey! Are you even listening to me right now? Who did I just say are the ones making a mess in the Gardens right now?

Mission: Answer One who disturbs the Gardens question > Slave Warriors

~

Seriously, even today, I wish those Slave Warriors were regular workers, helping around the Gardens. Think of all the work that could be done! Ha-ha, ha-ha.

Reward:

  • Experience: 88,000
  • Gold: 50,000
  • Item: Flame Cannonball x30

7.Hidden Story 2

Truth is, Tiamat is not dead. She is as alive as ever in the Hanging Gardens! In contrast to the normal version of this story, Marduk could not finish off Tiamat.  I'm sure he thought that Tiamat died in battle. Battered, bruised, and a simple sword swing away from losing her life, the immortal one dragged her body away from the light and went into hiding inside the Gardens. While Marduk was celebrating his victory, Tiamat began to heal slowly but surely. Severely injured, Tiamat had to focus all her energy to heal her wounds. ~ It's fun to imagine what could have happened if the Slave Warriors had been stronger during those days. Still, the Slave Archers were as strong as ever. They were quite a threat. Speaking of which, please go defeat the Archers as well before they become a threat to others again. (You can find the Slave Archers in the Eastern Region.)

Mission: Kill Slave Archer x20

~

Oh yes, the story. Tiamat's actions after her recovery were very peculiar. I would imagine she would be driven to avenge the loss she suffered in the hands of Marduk, but it appears that never occurred in her mind. I suppose since she thought of herself as a higher being, she deemed it unnecessary for her to fight a human. She was fixated on becoming an actual god rather than having her revenge. Of course, Marduk claimed his victory and the rest became legend. And that's why Tiamat lived so quietly in the Gardens until now. Therefore, nearly everyone believes Tiamat is dead.

Reward:

  • Experience: 105,600
  • Gold: 80,000
  • Item: Enchant Stone [III] x5

8.It should be good enough?

Tiamat, left to her own devices in the Hanging Gardens, continues to grow stronger. I wonder if we will ever have somebody strong enough to confront her. I am quite worried... There is no one able to match her current strength. Someone has to come. When that person appears and claims victory against her, we can finally reclaim the Gardens and return it to its original beautiful form. ~ Ha-ha. Did you enjoy my story? Now I need to give some thought as to what I am going to do with that Garden. Hm? Are you saying the story doesn't make any sense? Ha-ha, it's not nice to ridicule an old man like me. I'm still your elder, my young friend.

Mission: Talk to Scheherazade

~

What happened to the beautiful Garden that I've been ordered to look after for generations... It's all my fault... it's my fault.

Reward:

  • Experience: 88,000
  • Gold: 30,000
  • Item: Ashen Crystal x30

9.Time That Bends 1

Ha-ha, where have you been? You're right on time! I've been itching to tell another story. It's really rare to meet a young person who is kind enough to pay attention to an old man like me... and return to do it again! I will give you a special treat and tell you a story that has never been heard by any pair of ears in this land. I will tell you, in detail, about Tiamat, whose massive power resides inside the Hanging Gardens. It's a good story for an ambitious adventurer like you, young one. Many years have passed since the decisive battle between the Immortal and Marduk was settled. What shocked me most was when I found out that time goes by very slowly inside the Hanging Gardens. Meanwhile, Tiamat continues to enjoy her immortality, which belongs only to the gods, in her paradise. I am worried. If we don't stop her, she might really turn into a real god one day, and usher in an era of turmoil and chaos... ~ Even though it influenced a very small part of the world, bending time is very dangerous. But I don't think even Tiamat could distort time alone. Enki Magicians, the powerful beings that she keeps in her company, are probably part of the group that is manipulating time. Get rid of those Enki Magicians as soon as possible. That's the only way we can hope to stop her.

Mission: Kill Enki Magician x20

~

Ha-ha, my friend. I guess you had a relapse, hmm? Oh yes, the disease that's making you disappear without saying a word! Huh? That's not it? Did I ask you to do something again? Ha-ha, please excuse me. When you're as old as I am, you tend to forget many things.  Hm? I told you this before as well?

Reward:

  • Experience: 118,800
  • Gold: 90,000
  • Item: Merc. Room License(No Trade/7days) x1

10.Time That Bends 2

As I was telling you the story, I remembered something that was buried deep in my memory. Now that I think of it, it seemed to me that Tiamat's mind was descending into madness. It must've been hard to maintain sanity after being isolated for so long. On top of that, she had to endure the inability to discern time inside the Gardens. You know what? It just came across my mind, but I recall that Tiamat was constantly replacing her attendants by manipulating time. With just a small distortion of time, she could summon a different group of servants to her side. Thankfully, Tiamat eventually lost interest in that ability, as it's a simple enough trick to accomplish through other means. I'm not sure if we can call that loss of interest a good thing, though... Ha-ha... ~ If I am correct, you can probably change your mercenaries anytime you want to during battle. Don't you have any resting mercenaries? I am not asking for too much. I just want to see such an awesome battle play out one more time. Why don't you try changing your mercenaries more than 2 times in battle for me? If you are not sure what to do, please take a look at the faces of the mercenaries at the bottom-right corner of the screen during battle.

Mission: Change merc. while in battle x2

~

Tsk, tsk... Well, well! Where did you go again?

Reward:

  • Experience: 110,000
  • Gold: 90,000
  • Item: Enchant Stone [III] x5

11.Suspicious Maids-in Waiting 1

If my memory serves me right, Tiamat was always mumbling to herself while fiddling a strange device. She sent away all the maids and kept waiting for something or somebody to come while holding the device in her hands. I feel as if I'm about to remember something related to the device... but my memory fails me once again. Ah, now I remember. [Tiamat] stayed inside her chambers alone, and always muttered about "Atlantis" to herself. "Why is it not coming back...?" "Why is there no reaction...?" She would say things of that nature. ~ There is something. I really wonder about the Priestesses of Ishtar, who served Tiamat. I can see that the Enril Magicians and Enki Magicians possessed the power to bend time and contributed in enhancing her power, but I could never really figure out the identity of these maidens nor the purpose behind their presence inside the palace. Defeat the Priestesses of Ishtar, and bring me 12 Corrupted Priestess' Souls. I'd better take a look at them myself.

Mission: Corrupt Priestess' Soul x12

~

Huh? Did you just come back? Oh, my goodness! What's this? This is not a human soul... What? I asked you to bring it to me?

Reward:

  • Experience: 118,800
  • Gold: 90,000
  • Item: Life Potion [III] x5

12.Destroy the Souls

Well, when I finished the examination of these souls, I recalled a shocking memory. It is about where Tiamat originally came from. She wasn't from around here. She was sent from Atlantis, entrusted with the mission to destroy the civilization in this area. Everything was going according to plan up to the point of her infiltration of the Babylonian Kingdom by taking up an official position as a priestess. However, as soon as she took over the Hanging Gardens, she completely forgot about her mission and continued to train in order to strengthen herself. ~ Anyway, we'd better destroy these souls. Come back after destroying them.

Mission: Use Secret Book of Soul Destruction x1

~

You've just got back... Where have you been this time? I bet I can guess. I know, I sent you away to do something, right? I apologize for being so forgetful these days. I think it's actually getting worse!

Reward:

  • Experience: 99,000
  • Gold: 50,000
  • Item: Rainbow Soul Stone x10

13.So Dizzy...

My body can withstand it, but because the Hanging Gardens are so close, my mind is affected. There is something happening in the Gardens, and I'm not sure what... Some strange energy is flowing out from the Gardens. It's so strong that it's making me dizzy!  My mind drifts... Ideas cross my mind, then they drift away once more... You probably can't see them from here, but Caracals are prowling in the distance. I know my mind is not clear, but I am not imagining the barks of the beasts that constantly torment me. ~ Please defeat the Caracals. (You can find the Caracals west of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.)

Mission: Kill Caracal x15

Thank you so much for all your hard work... I'm sure that there are not many youths as impressive as yourself. If only you'd listen to me before taking off all the time...

Reward:

  • Experience: 118,800
  • Gold: 90,000
  • Item: Healing Potion [III] x10

14.Beast King

As you can see, the Caracals are very vicious animals much like coyotes. Their leader is called the Beast King Kegarrd. I wish he were gone so I could live without constantly feeling threatened. ~ Please, kill Beast King Kegarrd. He is probably with the Caracals. HINT: You can find the Beast King Kegarrd in the west of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon (outside).

Mission: Kill Beast King Kegarrd x1

~

Ha-ha, ha-ha. Much appreciated.

Reward:

  • Experience: 99,000
  • Gold: 90,000
  • Item: Babylon's Battle Box x5

15.Keysha

I will stop talking about the old stories for now, and tell you about the structure of the Hanging Gardens. Have you ever wondered how the Gardens can be so lush while floating in the desert sky? There is a mysterious device on top of the Hanging Gardens which pumps up water from the ground, thus capable of providing sustenance to the Gardens for eternity. This device is none other than the one that Tiamat always handled... If I remember correctly, it was called an Oriharukon Sensor. I've heard that the device was copied from that thing. That's why it's run semi-permanently. Even though the Oriharukon Sensor stopped running, the device that pumps up water is still working. ~ Birds called Keysha live in the Terrace of Light, where the device is installed. I was always worried that those birds might break the device. Now, my situation doesn't allow me to check on it anymore. Their numbers have multiplied considerably. Can you get rid of some Keyshas?

Mission: Kill Keysha x20

~

Hm? Ah, welcome back. What? You had a hard time, because the Keyshas were so vicious? That can't be.

Reward:

  • Experience: 118,800
  • Gold: 90,000
  • Item: Teleportation License [III](1 day) x2

16.Big Keysha

A few of them are a lot bigger than common Keyshas, but they are usually very gentle. How peculiar... You're not trying to play around with me, are you? I really liked those birds. They have such beautiful cries, but it's not a good thing to have so many of them. ~ Among the Monstrous Keyshas, you will find their leaders, which I marked in the past. Can you bring me 20 Little Idols from them? I believe you can find them hanging around their necks.

Mission: Little Idol x20

~

What took you so long? All you had to do was capture them and take the statuettes off. What? You were almost seriously injured? You didn't hurt them, did you?

Reward:

  • Experience: 118,800
  • Gold: 90,000
  • Item: Mana Potion [III] x10

17.Humbaba

I suppose Humbaba made the birds vicious, like everything else these days... Like the priestess, Humbaba was made by Tiamat. He is a brutal Gatekeeper Monster. He used to go about his business quietly. I can't believe getting back is so hard... I simply want to go back there and look after the Gardens. ~ Go defeat Humbaba. He is causing too much trouble. HINT: You can find the Humbabas in the Terrace of Light.

Mission: Kill Humbaba x1

~

Hm? It looks like you've been through a lot. Was he that strong? He used to be so disciplined... In the past, he would quiet down like a child if I asked him to.  What happened?

Reward:

  • Experience: 99,000
  • Gold: 90,000
  • Item: Life Potion [III] x5

18.Sigh

Being blinded by yesterday's glory, Tiamat is focusing all of her energy into increasing her power. Familiar energy seems to be coming from the place. I think that's why I feel so much stronger. Yes, I feel stronger now. I am a little worried about Tiamat. She couldn't recognize me anymore and kicked me out of there, but that is the least of my worries. I fear she might lose her mind completely... Huh? Why am I worried about somebody like her? Ha-ha, I've worked as a superintendent at the Hanging Gardens for a long, long time. Naturally, I was acquainted with Tiamat. ~ I've no more stories left to tell you. Even if I were to tell you more, you wouldn't be able to understand... Unless, that is, you are from the same place as I am...

Mission: Talk to Scheherazade

~

...

Reward:

  • Experience: 99,000
  • Gold: 30,000
