The Swordsman (Gyebaek) is a grade D Sword Mercenary.
With a sword in one hand and a shield in the other, the Swordsman is a master of defense. Put him in your front line, and he will give up his life to protect you.
When the time to attack is at hand, have him cast Flame Sword to deal fire damage against a single target.
You can have as many of this mercenary as you like.
Assessment[]
Gyebaek is a good tank who can take a lot of damage. He is among the least expensive (to obtain, upgrade and skill up) mercenaries.
However, his skills leave much to be desired, even taking into account his skill combo with the Shaman, and other D rank mercenaries have better attack potential.
At some point when you get to the higher in-game levels (>120), you will probably want a merc with more and better skills and damage potential.
There are many other mercenaries that can overshadow him as a shielded tank. The Lady Knight (C rank) can tank more damage and deal a bit more damage with her skill; the Champion, Valkyrie and Trainee Kim Choon Sam come with many support options for varied formations; Trainee Mo Chien Lang, Trainee Nightshade and Trainee Empress Tianmo can deal damage much more effectively.
In the Arena Betting, Swordsman's alternate name is Hukchisangui appearing multitude as mercernaries being sided with the hero C merc. When executing his Flame Sword, he can charge himself instead of the latter who can raise his sword during charge. One of his basic attacks has him hitting three times instead of four.
While capable on early levels, it's suggested to consider replacing Gyebaek once the player reaches level 100.
